Compliance, Ethics & Procedures

Introduction:

Kelkan has developed a compliance and ethical program to ensure that it conducts its business activities and services with all compliance to regional laws, rules, and regulations in an ethical manner to reduce risk of misconduct. Kelkan’s procedures have been established in order to ensure that its business ethics policies are being fulfilled includes in anti-corruption, trade controls and trade policies. In order to follow all guidance from regional laws and company policies, Kelkan has developed these following policies;

  • Immediate response to and the investigation of possible violations of the Code of Conduct and Ethics, compliance policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules or regulations.
  • Appropriate corrective action initiatives and consistent discipline for any violations that have occurred.
  • Monitoring of regular compliance audits and evaluation techniques, internally and externally.
  • Provide regular and effective training and education, which addresses the various components of the compliance and ethics program and effectively communicates Kelkan’s standards.
  • Attend regular site visits to ensure all trades, production and mobilization are being conducting under company ethical policies.

Kelkan’s goal is to ensure that all employees are aware when they should seek for answers regarding potential instances of fraud, abuse, or any other potential violations of the regional Law, company policies and regulations. Employees are recommended to submit reports in any case to their Managers or Human Resource Department.

Kelkan is currently undergoing ISO 9001: 2008, Quality Management System to insure all the above will be undertaken in compliance with the ISO Standards. Additionally,  Kelkan has signed on to the United Nation’s Global Compact,  which is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Confidentiality

We are committed to maintaining the highest degree of integrity in all our dealings with potential, current and past clients, both in terms of normal commercial confidentiality, and the protection of all personal information received in the course of providing the business services concerned. We extend the same standards to all our customers, suppliers and associates.

Ethics

We always conduct our own services honestly and honorably, and expect our clients and suppliers to do the same. Our advice, strategic assistance and the methods imparted through our training, take proper account of ethical considerations, together with the protection and enhancement of the moral position of our clients and suppliers.

Duty of care

Our actions and advice will always conform to relevant law, and we believe that all businesses and organizations, including this company, should avoid causing any adverse effect on the human rights of people in the organizations we deal with, the local and wider environments, and the well-being of society at large.

Conflict of Interest

We recognize the obligations it has towards those with whom it has dealings, including its staff, contractors, shareholders, customers, suppliers, competitors and the community as a whole. The Company’s reputation, together with the trust and confidence of those with whom it deals, is a valuable asset.

It is the duty of all members of staff and contractors to protect the Company’s reputation and that of its operating subsidiaries and ensure that all conflicts of interest are avoided.

Quality Assurance

We maintain the quality of what we do through constant ongoing review with our clients, of all aims, activities, outcomes and the cost-effectiveness of every activity. We encourage regular review meetings and provide regular progress reports. The company has been accredited under a number of quality assurance schemes. Further details are available on request.

 

Professional conduct

We conduct all of our activities professionally and with integrity. We take great care to be completely objective in our judgment and any recommendations that we give, so that issues are never influenced by anything other than the best and proper interests of our clients.

Equality and discrimination

We always strive to be fair and objective in our advice and actions, and we are never influenced in our decisions, actions or recommendations by issues of gender, race, creed, color, age or personal disability.

 

ANTI-BRIBERY/ANTI CORRUPTION

Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption Program:

Kelkan has a world-wide anti-bribery/anti-corruption program that is management led and applies to all levels of the business. It is a core value for Kelkan and we put our business ethics and social responsibility at the forefront in our work practices.

Kelkan uses an in-house training programs to ensure that all employees are made aware of the issues involved in anti-bribery/anti-corruption practices and the responsibilities and requirements of the company and its employees in respect of the program. Kelkan has also signed on to UN’s Global Compact initiative which pledges to work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. Moreover, Kelkan supports the following acts:

  • UK Bribery Act
  • Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)
  • Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Officials in International Business Transactions (OECD Convention).

The Company has a ‘Due Diligence’ program to ensure that anybody representing us is aware of these issues. This ensures that The Company can proceed with confidence in our relationships with business partners and sub-contractors.
